"Today, we are in the midst of a full recovery, with more than a billion dollars invested in rebuilding our great city. But we know first-hand about devastation. We know first-hand about the power of hope and that giving can uplift a people. That is why this Haiti relief fundraiser is important. Our Haitian brothers and sisters were there for us in our time of need, contributing thousands of dollars to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Tuesday is our time to give back to them," said Mayor C. Ray Nagin.
