About The Amy Winehouse Foundation (AWF-US)
The tragic passing of Amy on July 23, 2011 at the age of 27, left not only her family and close friends heart broken, but had a huge impact on people all over the world. Amy and her music touched millions of lives across the globe. Amy’s family launched the Amy Winehouse Foundation in the UK on September 14th 2011, on what would have been Amy’s 28th birthday and in the US on April 11,2012. The Amy Winehouse Foundation’s US mission is to support and empower children in need through music therapy and music education. The Foundation works to accomplish this mission in the following ways: by supporting music therapy and music education programs in universities, hospitals, schools, after school programs, and other institutions and agencies; in providing assistance specifically by meeting the unmet needs in psychological, mental and emotional well-being of children from disadvantaged families; and/or by offering scholarship grants to deserving students, from disadvantaged families for educational opportunities. www.amywinehousefoundation.org
