THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 10 YEARS, ONE NIGHT AT NEW YORK CITY'S PRESTIGIOUS CARNEGIE HALL ON OCTOBER 8, 2012 AT 8 P.M.
This performance is part of a larger, local New Orleans concert series entitled THE NOJO 10, which celebrates the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra's 10th anniversary with 10 signature Jazz events.
NEW ORLEANS, LA (August 10, 2012) - Grammy Award-winning Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) will perform at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on October 8, 2012. In addition to the 18-piece big band and Mayfield, the night will feature famed Jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, Season 10 American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams, and the acclaimed Sphinx Virtuosi; other special guests will be announced soon. 10 Years, One Night is sponsored by Prudential Financial and the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau. Individual tickets are available at www.carnegiehall.org.
"This performance at Carnegie Hall is our opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of NOJO while thanking - though music - the friends, neighbors and partners who have supported our city, culture and music before and, especially, since Hurricane Katrina," said Artistic Director Mayfield.
NOJO will also celebrate in their hometown with a series of local concerts and events beginning in September. Highlights will include collaborations with Ledisi, Shannon Powell and Cyril Neville, as well as an original Jazz score being created by Mayfield to honor literary legend Ernest Gaines. The NOJO 10 Seson Ticket packages are available now at www.thenojo.com.
